Paying prices well in excess of £50 million, it is perhaps not surprising that Devonport’s customers often prefer to remain out of the limelight. Confidentiality is a key aspect of this business, so photography of Devonport’s existing vessels is used sparingly. Put simply, we needed a way to demonstrate what Devonport was capable of, without using photographs of yachts. So we built our own... Based on 2D drawings provided by a budding yacht designer, we created and rendered an intricate 3D model of a vessel that didn’t actually exist. Using this model, we then storyboarded, produced and edited a 90-second computer generated movie, complete with bespoke soundtrack.
